9 Patient Killed After Massive Fire At SMS Hospital’s Trauma Center ICU In Jaipur
The Live Info India
A devastating fire broke out around 11:20 pm in the neuro ICU ward’s store room at SMS Hospital. The room reportedly contained papers, medical equipment, and blood sample tubes, and officials suspect a short circuit as the cause of the blaze. At the time of the incident, there were 11 patients in the affected ICU, with another 13 patients in an adjoining ward. The incident sadly resulted in the death of seven people.
The tragic loss of life prompted a response from former CM Ashok Gehlot, who tweeted about the incident. He described the fire in the ICU of the trauma center as “extremely heartbreaking,” expressing his hope for minimal loss of life and offering prayers. Gehlot prayed for the departed souls and wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the situation extremely difficult, as the entire ward was filled with smoke, blocking all access. A Fire Officer stated they “had to break windowpanes from the opposite side of the building and spray water jets inside” to combat the flames. It took fire crews nearly one and a half hours to douse the fire. All patients were swiftly evacuated along with their beds and shifted to the roadside for safety.
