Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, a rising star who played a crucial role in India’s Asia Cup 2025 victory, has been targeted in a serious extortion attempt demanding INR 5 crore. The threat, linked to the notorious ‘D-Company,’ was revealed through a series of messages sent to the cricketer’s promotional team between February and April 2025.

The communications began with an individual named Naveed, who initially approached Rinku Singh on April 5 as an ardent fan, complimenting his career and politely requesting financial assistance. However, the tone quickly turned menacing. Just four days later, on April 9, Naveed abandoned the polite request, sending a direct message demanding ₹5 crore and stating that he would arrange the time and place for the transfer.

After receiving no response, the extortionist sent a chilling ultimatum on April 20, consisting simply of the message: “Reminder! D-Company.” This clear reference to an organized crime syndicate elevated the incident from a simple demand for money to a serious security threat for the popular athlete.

Following an investigation into the matter, which was conducted by the Mumbai Crime Branch, two suspects named Mohammed Dilshad and Mohammed Naveed were reportedly arrested in the West Indies. The same individuals are also allegedly involved in a separate extortion case involving the son of a late politician. The revelation of this threat highlights the significant dangers public figures can face despite their success, with the young cricketer currently involved in Ranji Trophy training while police maintain vigilance.
