Bengaluru Surgeon Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Doctor Wife with Anaesthesia
The Live Info Media
A shocking case has emerged from Bengaluru where a general surgeon, Dr. Mahendra Reddy, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, Dr. Kruthika Reddy, a dermatologist, by allegedly overdosing her with an anaesthetic drug. The couple were both doctors at Victoria Hospital and had married in May of the previous year.
Death Initially Treated as Unnatural
The incident took place on April 21st at the couple’s home. Dr. Kruthika Reddy was rushed to a nearby hospital by her husband and was declared brought dead. Police initially registered a case of unnatural death. However, during the inspection of their home, authorities recovered crucial evidence, including a cannula set and other medical items, which were sent for forensic analysis.
Forensic Report Confirms Foul Play
The case took a turn after the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report confirmed the presence of Propofol, a powerful anaesthetic drug, in the victim’s organs. This finding strongly suggested a criminal act, leading the victim’s father to file a murder complaint against his son-in-law on October 13th.
Husband Arrested by Police
Based on the FSL report and the complaint, the Marathahalli Police swiftly arrested Dr. Mahendra Reddy on October 14th from Manipal. Police suspect that the accused used his medical expertise to make his wife’s death appear natural. The Police Commissioner stated that evidence points to the husband, who initially gave no indication of foul play, claiming his wife was simply unwell. The presence of sedatives confirms a “malafide intention,” and further investigation is now underway. The case has caused widespread shock within the medical community.
