High-Level Security Meeting on Jammu & Kashmir

Amit Shah Reaffirms ‘Zero-Tolerance’ Policy on J&K Terrorism

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has once again stated the central government’s firm commitment to making Jammu and Kashmir completely free of terrorism. During a high-level security meeting in New Delhi on Thursday, he made it clear that security forces have been given complete freedom to take any necessary action to eliminate threats and maintain peace in the region.

High-Level Security Review

The crucial meeting was attended by top officials responsible for the security of Jammu and Kashmir. Those present included J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Chief of Army Staff, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and the heads of various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the J&K Police. The officials provided the Home Minister with a detailed update on the current security situation on the ground.

Key Directives to Security Forces

Amit Shah issued several important instructions during the review. He directed the security agencies to intensify their alertness and improve coordination to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a terror-free J&K. He specifically warned them to be fully prepared to stop terrorists from taking advantage of the upcoming winter snowfall to infiltrate across the border. Shah asserted that any attempt to disrupt peace will be dealt with sternly.

Context of the Pahalgam Terror Attack

This renewed focus on security follows the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, most of whom were tourists. After that attack, Amit Shah had visited the site and directed security forces to deal with terrorists and their supporters with a “heavy hand.” The Home Minister appreciated the steps taken by the local administration since the attack, which have helped strengthen the overall security in the Union Territory.

Dismantling the Terror Network

The Home Minister was briefed that due to the continuous and determined efforts of the security agencies, the terrorist network in J&K has been significantly weakened and almost eliminated. Relentless operations are still underway in the upper regions of South Kashmir and the Kishtwar area to completely dismantle any remaining terror infrastructure.

The Ultimate Goal: Peace and Normalcy

Reiterating the Centre’s unwavering commitment, Shah emphasized that the goal is to completely eradicate terrorism from the region. The meeting underscored the government’s resolve to ensure that peace and stability are restored, allowing for normal life and activities, including tourism, to return to Jammu and Kashmir without fear.
